Finding The Best Lesson Plans For Your Family

Generally speaking, there are 2 types of lesson plans:

1.If you know very little about something and you want to learn more about it.

2.When you have specific questions about something that you know a little about you may write down what you want to learn more about.

Once you have all of the details that you need, you will be able to write lesson plans for your children. Herein you will want to write down your objectives, any information that you wish to teach and any assignments that you want your children to do. When doing this, you do not want to leave any gaps as that is usually what scares us and makes us want to avoid doing the lesson. After all, you may be thinking: "What happens if my state doesn't approve?" "What will my friends think?"

Of course, if you want to give your child the freedom to learn things on their own, you are going to have to stop worrying and start allowing your child to go ahead and use the first type of lesson plan. Whenever you allow your child to decide what they want to learn, you will see that your children will be more eager to help one another. As parents we sometimes simply need to let go and let our children learn on their own. When we do we will learn that our child, regardless of how young they may be, can actually learn on their own.

While some people would say that this is unschooling, it really isn't. It is just a way of allowing our children to learn that they do not have to depend on someone else to teach them what they want to learn. If you are really having a hard time of letting go though, then you can still throw in a few selected, planned lessons on the topic for the 2 of you to do together.

Over the years you will find that your lesson plans will evolve. At first your lesson plans will probably be very formal. However, over time you will be able to loosen up some. This does not mean that you have to throw all caution to the wind and allow lesson plans to get lost and look completely unofficial looking, even if you want to do the second type of lesson plan.

If you take some time to look around you will find that there are a lot of really neat lesson planners on the market today. Some of these lesson planning notebooks have boxes wherein you can keep a record of the books that you have read. There may even be room for other lists that you would like to keep and space to give your child the appropriate credit for his school work.

It may take you a while to figure out what will work best for you and your family. This is because some people enjoy simplicity and flexibility, while others thrive on detailed structure. Some people will actually take the time to plan out their entire year instead of just doing a semester or a month at a time like other parents do. There are even some people who only prepare for 1 week or 1 day at a time. Whatever you do, you should make sure not to get discouraged. Once you find the system that works best for you and your family, you will know it.
